General (non username/password) Form Saving/Filling

So I came across this issue today. When filling out a form online, such as gift card application and visa application, sometimes I need to save the fields in the whole page, i.e. a web form, for future use, e.g. duplicate application or for another person with similar details. Is there a way to save a general form with many fields to the OP? I couldn't find a way to do this. If this is not supported yet, was it supported in OP4? Will it get added in the future?

  • Hi @cs88rf,

    Thanks for writing in.

Technically, this isn't something 1Password can do because it is heavily tuned for filling your username/password, a lot of focus is on making sure your password is never submitted in any random fields to protect you.

However, there was a known trick by using the manual Login save, so that 1Password could match fields. This is available in 1Password 4 and other apps but not yet in 1Password 6 for Windows. This is something we're working on adding very soon.

Nice! Normally I use it as a temporary hold of all the info I just filled to do it again more quickly. Can't wait for the manual save feature.

Also very much looking forward to manual save here too. It's something which came in very useful for me in 1Password 4 :+1:

  • Yep, this is a popular request due to the fact that there are some weird sites that doesn't have a submission event where 1Password extension knows you're saving a new Login item, so manual save is an important feature we need to implement sooner.
