"Shared" vault displaying as "Team" in latest betas
Lots of great progress in the recent betas!
A small bug : I initially had 1Password for Teams. I transitioned it to Families. In current beta, the family shared vault is showing up as Team.
I do have a question about the shared vault. The 1Password website seems have bugs around managing the visibility of the shared vault for people within the family. It seems to say that everyone has access, but allows me to uncheck someone's access. Unchecking someone doesn't seem to actually remove their visibility.
I don't like the forced Shared vault. I would like individual's access to it to be at the administrator's discretion. The reason why is that I actually think the best way for me to manage my family of 4 is to have each of my kids have a private vault and a vault shared between them and me. So if I have a son named Mike, what I want him to have is a private vault and then a vault called "Shared - Mike". The shared-by-everyone vault is just noise for him and creates confusion.
Can you guys consider making the Shared vault optional? Thanks.

Hi @zendnez,
Thanks for reporting this.
We've stopped hard-coding the
Personal
/Shared
strings in our app as our servers are now passing that in, so that it'll be flexible with the naming you choose later.Team
is the default name for all 1Password Teams account, whileShared
is the default for Families. For some reason, our backend thinks you own a 1Password Teams account, so this may be something we need to inform the web services team about. Did you convert your original Team account to Families or did you create a separate Families account and move data in? If it was converted, that might explain what's happening.
Can you guys consider making the Shared vault optional? Thanks.
It already is. I'm not sure if you're aware but early last year, we've implemented the ability to delete the
Shared
vault, so that you can delete it and create individual shared vaults with specific family members explicitly. This option is available when you visit the Shared vault settings via the Admin Console > Vaults. It seems to say that everyone has access, but allows me to uncheck someone's access.
That is a bug, you can't remove someone's access from the global shared vault. I'll file a bug report to remove that option because you have to delete the shared vault and recreate it manually with your own requirements.

Thanks for the response, @MikeT.
My account was originally a Team account which I converted to Families (actually mentioned that at the beginning of my post :) ).
I suspect your theory about this being the source of the issue is correct. Looking around on the web, I think I see other evidence of unexpected behavior that may be related to this. Here's what I see:
A few days ago, I created a new vault to share with my daughter. When I look at that vault in the admin console and I look at my own permissions on that vault, I see:
That doesn't seem right. I saw something similar on another vault a couple of days back and fixed it manually but if it's being caused by some characteristic of my account, it would be great to have it investigated.
This vault was created months after the conversion to Families. In case it matters - I created a Teams account very early and did the Teams -> Families conversion as soon as that became available. So I was likely to hit any bugs that existed along the way :)
Thanks again.

Hi @zendnez,
My account was originally a Team account which I converted to Families (actually mentioned that at the beginning of my post :) ).
I wasn't sure what
transitioned
meant exactly because copying data to another account can be a transition as well, so I wanted to double-check.That doesn't seem right. I saw something similar on another vault a couple of days back and fixed it manually but if it's being caused by some characteristic of my account, it would be great to have it investigated.
Yep, our web services team will need to investigate that for you. Can you send us an email from your 1Password account's registered email address with a link to this thread to support+forum@agilebits.com.
Let me know here when you've sent it, so I can route it to the right team.

Hi guys,
@zendnez, I've already bumped it the moment you sent the email but our entire email volume is very high right now for our various teams, we're working as fast as we can to go through the inbox but it will take some time.
@marksmyth, please do what I've requested of zendnez, email us from the original email address and include a link to this thread and your forum username. Let me know when it is sent, so I can route it to the right team.
The more data points they have, the sooner they can fix this for you guys.

Hi guys,
This is not an issue in 1Password 6 at all, we are showing the right name. Your 1Password accounts have the Team vault name, it was never known as Shared. Internally, Shared was originally hardcoded by the client apps and 1Password for Windows is the first to stop hardcoding the name and pulling the name from the server, thus why you see Team, not Shared.
The good news is that the web team is working on updating their web app to let you rename the Shared vault, so you'll be able to rename from Team to Shared. As soon you do that, 1Password 6 will update the name right away.
I don't have an ETA yet.

@MikeT FYI, I have a Families account that I don't think was originally a Teams account (maybe? It's been a while!) and the Shared vault (which it definitely was called before) is now called Teams. I didn't realize what the problem was until reading this thread because I'd seen a Teams vault in 1Password Windows Beta that looked odd because I have a real Teams account that I don't use (will use at work eventually, but I pay for it to reserve the pricing deal for now) and I was pretty sure wasn't signed into but thought maybe I was. But I'm not, it's that the Families account now shows a Teams vault in Windows and on the web, I just checked. So something definitely changed server side since this shows up from the web as well.
Like I said I don't recall if my account was a Teams account originally, if it was it was because it was from before Families accounts existed and it's been too long for me to remember correctly. Perhaps the evidence suggests it was :-)

Hi guys,
Just an update, if you sign into 1Password web app and on the home page where your vaults are, there's a pencil icon under Shared vault, you can use that to change the name.
This is not yet implemented on the Admin Console's Vaults list but we're working to update that soon.
Thanks for writing in. I'll send you a PM about your account since it is private.
