Domain Website Login [Hostnames are not supported, a full domain is required to fill]

I am using 1Password for Teams and am on the latest Beta. (Jumped to beta because I was excited about 6.4 and hopefully fixing this issue but it looks like it hasn't). Here is what is happening:

I am on an enterprise domain so all our internal websites are whatever.xyz.com, HOWEVER since it is a domain you don't explicitly need the xyz.com in the url because the default search domain is the domain you are on. So all I need to do to get to an intrasite is type "whatever"(without the xyz.com) and since I am a domain admin I have a whole bunch of domain sites under my domain admin 1password password. Except when I go to any of those websites and press Ctrl+/ or click the icon (this happened in the last stable version as well) it doesn't even doesn't even search my 1password library it just gives me all of my passwords. I have also tried to make a single password item so a specific website but that doesn't work either, however the really strange thing is that if I click on that item it will take me to the website abc.xyz.com but if I log out of the website (or don't) and hit my keyboard shortcut it doesn't see that password that originally took me there. It just seems like 1password for teams (on windows) is not actually meant for teams.

This all works perfectly fine on the Mac that I have and any other device I test with. Just 1Password6 for Windows.

1Password Version: 6.4.380
Extension Version: 4.6.3.90
OS Version: Windows 10
Sync Type: 1Password for Teams

    Hi @hacked,

    Thanks for writing in.

Hostname only is definitely not supported yet, the domain is required for 1Password mini to search properly. We would like to add support for both hostname and IP addresses but we do not have a timeframe on this. I will certainly bring this up to see if we can bump this up on our list.

For now, you must enter the rest of the domain for the 1Password mini to fill.

7 months later, any ETA on this yet? 6.7 still doesn't work. I "never" type the FQDN when at work. This makes 1Password for Teams a LOT less useful.

@GregKet1: Definitely let us know if you're having trouble running 1Password 6.7. That doesn't seem normal.

But regarding hostname matching, we do have to prioritize work on things that will benefit more people. This is still on our list, but we've been working on other things — and released 5 pretty big updates — in the mean time. Thanks for letting us know that this is a feature you'd like too!

So is there a way to make http://domain.com match http://host1.domain.com, http://host2.domain.com, host3.domain.com, etc?

I'm primarily using Teams 6 on Windows using Chrome. I've tried adding domain.com and *.domain.com but those don't seem to work.

@GregKet1: Yep! Those aren't hostnames, so using something like amazon.com as the website URL in the login will work for aws.amazon.com and smile.amazon.com as well. Cheers! :)

So I’ve tried “domain.com”, “http://domain.com”, https://domain.com, http://.domain.com, https://.domain.com and none of them match when I go to https://firewall.domain.com. And if I manually search for “firewall”, 1P pops a new browser window to take me to the specific URL for that entry; it doesn’t just fill the fields for the page I’m on.

What am I missing? Your examples don’t actually show any details of the configuration.

    @GregKet1: That's why I provided the screenshot:

Are you maybe mixing up http:// and https:// ? It would also help to know the OS, 1Password , browser, and extension versions you're using.

Might be wrong but I think 1Password X fixed the OP question...at least it did for me. It now recognizes https://server instead of https://server.domain.local. Give it a try.

Oh, and it is sooo much better looking too! 8-)

Glad you're enjoying it! Indeed, while 1Password X isn't as powerful in some ways as the native app/extension combo, because it's focused entirely on browser use we've got some nice tricks there. Cheers! :)

Ah, sorry Brently. I was on my mobile device and didn't see all the background bits of your image.

Unfortunately it isn't working for me like it is for you. Can I send you an image directly? I can't post it publicly.

    I'm using Windows 10, 1Password for Teams 6.7.457, Chrome 62.0.3202.89, Extension 4.6.12.90.

@GregKet1: No problem. It's my fault anyway: I should have highlighted that the first time.

You can take a screenshot of what you're seeing and include it in your reply. Just click the document button in the top of the comment field, and select the file you wish to share:

Just be sure not to post anything sensitive, as this is a public forum. Or you can send it to support@1password.com and post the Support ID you receive here if you'd prefer to do it via email. Thanks in advance! :)

Sorry I wasn't clear. I can't do that because I work for a bank and it would show too much info.

Can I send you the image directly?

  • @GregKet1: If you send it to support@1password.com and let us know the Support ID you get, we can definitely move things over to e-mail for a more private setting. E-mails you send will be available to any of the AgileBits team that looks at your ticket, but we can delete the image from our support system after we're done with it, if you feel that's necessary, just let us know. And, of course, you may feel absolutely free to redact anything from the image you're not comfortable sharing. :chuffed:
