Can't login to 1password Windows app after update to 1password family account

Options

Hi,

I have 1password installations on all my devices, works great. I recently upgraded to a 1password.com family account and it went smooth on my Mac and the iPhone.

I'm having some issues on Windows 10 though. The steps I went through:

  • Uninstalled the old v4 application
  • Logged into 1password.com with my new family account
  • Downloaded and installed the new v6 1password application
  • Straight after the installation, the 1password application starts and asks me for my Master Password but there is no Welcome Screen as indicated on this page https://support.1password.com/migrate-1password-account/ (windows section)
  • My master password does not work and the 1password application stays locked

So the question is, how do I get 1password on Windows 10 to log in to my 1password.com account? There's no option and now menu, just the master password screen...

Thank you for your help

    Hello @stefan_geyer and @chriswong,

I am sorry to hear you bumped into troubles with 1Password 6 for Windows! You did the right thing by reaching out to us.

Are you sure you haven't used any version of 1Password 6 before? It seems that 1Password 6 created the initial database with different credentials when it first started up. To fix this issue:

    1. Open Windows File Explorer and enter the following in the address bar: %LOCALAPPDATA%\1Password
    2. Rename data folder to backup-data
    3. Open 1Password and sign in to your account.

This should give 1Password a chance to recreate your database correctly. Please give this a try and let us know how it goes.

    Thanks!
