Generating passwords from the plugin don't get saved as login, but as Password

Hi,

Why is it when generating a password through the plugin it creates a password entry instead of just creating a login for the site I'm signing up to? Is there a specific way I should generate the password?

Thanks,

Brandon

@brandscill: Thanks for reaching out. I’m sorry for the confusion! Indeed, any time you use a generated password (copying/filling, for example) 1Password will save it in a Password item. This is an important safety net, so you don't lose it if you don't save a login for some reason. To save a new login or update an existing one, you can either save it when 1Password prompts you when you submit a login or password change form, or save the login manually. I hope this helps. Be sure to let me know if you have any other questions! :)

Hi @brenty but this means after I save as a login I get a load of passwords left over hanging around?

    Hi @brandscill,

At the moment, yes. We haven't yet implemented the ability to automatically remove any redundant Password items after 1Password saves a new Login with the same password + URL. This is coming in future updates but already available in other 1Password apps such as 1Password 6 for macOS and 1Password 4 for Windows, we just haven't implemented it yet in 1Password 6 for Windows.

We may add a cleaning tool to show you the redundant passwords, so that you can bulk delete them.
