Ive been using 1password 6 with families for over a month and Im finding a lot is still missing compared to 1password4. Ive gotta be honest there is loads of advantages on 1P6 but it still lacks what 1P4 has.

Is there a way to move back to 1P4, as its proving difficult to move back and not sure if anyone has done this move. and the fact that I can sub with £ and only $ which is the biggest pain which I'm sure you all understand.

  • Hey Kieran,

Thanks for writing in with your feedback.
Moving back is possible. Have you been using your 1Password Families account with just the Windows PC or with an iOS device, too? That would make the move back easier.

As you might imagine we'd love for you to keep using 1Password 6 and a 1Password account. It's the future of 1Password and the best experience if you 1Password across many devices and with your family.

Because of this, we're very curious what particular features you're missing in 1Password 6 that are part of 1Password 4. Version 6 is evolving very quickly and we're working tirelessly to make it better.

I also have to admit that I'm not entirely sure what you meant by

and the fact that I can sub with £ and only $ which is the biggest pain which I'm sure you all understand

    Mind elaborating?

    Thanks,

    Alex

  • Hey Alex thanks for getting back to me.

Im not sure if you saw my other post I made, but im happy to stay with 1password 6 but i want move from families to individual 1P6 subscription, as its only me using it now and not my wife.

The feature that are missing are only minor changes but make the process alot easier to use on a day to day are the following.
    1. 1P6 lacks a lot of preferences where 1P4 has plenty to change for security, browsers and also general settings
    2. There isn't much to see on backup. I know it's all cloud base but it would be nice to have something in our control.
    3. 1P6 is lacking microsoft browser extension.
    4. There's no way to prevent auto-save from keep popping up on 1P6 whereas on 1P4 you can set certain websites to prevent it from showing, even when you have a password for the site in your vault.
    5. To have the ability to edit the login details via the extension itself, which is available on the mac

Other features that would be nice is a receipt section as I scan all my important receipts and not sure where to put them.

With regards to my last question, I was meant to say how we can only pay in dollars and not other currency which is a pain for myself as i get charge 2% of the total amount.

Any lastly if i was to move from families to individual am I able to keep my multiple vaults i have as shown in the picture.

  • I've answered the question regarding the account type change in the other thread, so let's dive into your feedback.

1P6 lacks a lot of preferences where 1P4 has plenty to change for security, browsers and also general settings

That's true. To a certain point that is intentional. We've made the app a lot simpler and moved some settings to places where they make more sense, because they were contextual. It's also true, however, that 1Password 6 isn't as feature-rich as 1Password 4, yet. As we're adding features, you'll see more options pop into the settings pages.

There isn't much to see on backup. I know it's all cloud base but it would be nice to have something in our control.

We understand that but it's not something we think of changing. You always have a local copy of your data on each device that, of course, works without internet access. Your data is always backed up online, with multiple redundancies, even though all you see is the option to roll back changes to items, if you need to.

1P6 is lacking microsoft browser extension.

Yup. We're still working on the Microsoft Edge extension with Microsoft and once the new UWP version is ready you should see something in that space. We're quite excited about it.

There's no way to prevent auto-save from keep popping up on 1P6 whereas on 1P4 you can set certain websites to prevent it from showing, even when you have a password for the site in your vault.

That option exists in Settings > Options > Browsers > Autosave.

To have the ability to edit the login details via the extension itself, which is available on the mac

It's something we're thinking about but not a feature that you'll see in the near future if we decide to add it.
There's also an unfortunate bug in the "Edit in 1Password" feature right now that we're hoping to fix soon.

Other features that would be nice is a receipt section as I scan all my important receipts and not sure where to put them.

That's taken care of by Documents. You can scan something, import it into 1Password 6, give it a good title, and tag it with something like "receipts". What do you think?

With regards to my last question, I was meant to say how we can only pay in dollars and not other currency which is a pain for myself as i get charge 2% of the total amount.

Aaah! That makes sense. I tend to forget this all the time, until I make a software purchase and see the 19% German VAT charge show up. I'm sorry but I can't give you a good answer to this. We're working on further improving our payment processes but since this is a Canadian product, there's little we can do.

Any lastly if i was to move from families to individual am I able to keep my multiple vaults i have as shown in the picture.

Yes, your data will not be affected by the conversion from a 1Password Families account to a 1Password account.

I hope you'll find this information to be helpful. Should you need help with something else, simply contact us again.

    Cheers,

    Alex

  • Thank you so much for providing me with all that feedback. I have so far converted my account to an individual account.

Now I went to subscribe and my card was declined. But this is an issue with my bank detection as suspicious activity

  • Well that's good news and bad news then.
I hope you can get the credit card issues sorted.

We're always happy to help and we love getting feedback as great as yours.

Cheers and have a great weekend!
