Textarea ("Notes") As An Additional Field

Can you please create functionality for adding a textarea (in HTML parlance) instead of just input fields? I want to be able to have more than just one multiline field, that is, in addition to the "notes" field.

I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere, and I'm generally pretty good with forum etiquette, but I can't be bothered to track down all of the instances of this request at this junction to check progress, sorry. So please merge with or defer to another thread if applicable.

@Jables: Don't worry about etiquette. We're always glad for constructive feedback. It sounds like you're talking about adding custom, multi-line fields. Is that correct? If we do something like this, it will probably not be for a while, as support would need to be added across all platforms (including web). And honestly right now we have a lot of rather big things we're working on (like the new app we're both using!), so this isn't something we'll be able to look at short term. That said, ultimately we'd like to add more flexibility overall to item customization, so it may be we can do this as well. Thanks for letting us know you'd like us to add this feature! :)

I would also like to see this added as a field type as it already exists for secure notes.

@nblackburn: Secure Notes doesn't have field types; rather, it has a template which has a preset area for extended text. It's something we may be able to add for arbitrary fields in a future version though. Thank for letting us know you'd like that option! :)

Let me add (one year after the last comment) my name to those who would like to see that. I use general notes for, well, all kinds of general things, and having only one field that can be used multiline gives a rather poor experience.

The interesting point is that, as it seems, this is a matter of user interface and not some internal structure. Indeed, I used the CSV import of the (great) convert_to_1p4 package, and I happened to use it with a CSV file that had multiple lines for an extra, custom field. This was converted into 1PIF and, subsequently, imported into 1Password without any problem, i.e., I have a multiline extra field there! The only thing I cannot do is to edit that field, or add a new entry with a multiline field...

@iherman: Thank you for weighing in! I agree, customisation, flexibility, and other secure notes improvements would be really cool. We will definitely consider it for future updates. Please stay tuned. :chuffed:

    Have a great Sunday!

    Cheers,
    Greg
