Suggestion: give users visual feedback that 1Password is about to auto log out/shutdown
While working (developing/maintaining websites) I use 1Password a lot:
Logging in into servers, forums, testing logins and authorization on website I work on...
For security reasons 1Password automatically shuts down after being idle for a while. While this is a useful feature, I sometimes hate it, because I have to re-enter my password again to continue using 1Password.
Wouldn't it be great if the 1Password application would 'warn' users that 1Password is almost shutting down? Just like a smartphone dims it's screen light in steps just before switching of it's screen into standby mode. This feature is asking for a little attention of the user so it knows that it shouldn't shutdown yet. By clicking on 1Password, or changing it's window position or Windows state (minimized/full screen, etc), or just giving the application focus (by Alt-tabbing f.i.) the program knows it should start recounting down for the next attempt to shutdown...
Dimming it's appearance, or fading into grey in 3 shades of 10 seconds each would be great (or in 50 steps ;) )
Slowly closing down it's 'doors' like a garage, could also be a nice way to attract the attention and let the user decide if she wants 1Password to log her out of 1Password or not...
Cheers,
Teun

Hi @RedFeet,
Thanks for the suggestion.
For security reasons 1Password automatically shuts down after being idle for a while.
1Password starts its auto-lock timer when you as the computer user is idle, not 1Password itself. You must stop using the keyboard and mouse altogether before 1Password auto-lock timer kicks in.
With that in mind, I'm not quite sure how useful the notification would be if the user is not active at that point.

Hi @MikeT,
In my case 1Password also auto-locks when only 1Password is idle, while I'm still using my mouse pointer/keyboard. So I'm not so sure about that. I think there are 2 auto-locks: 1 that checks for the user being inactive (a very useful feature, IMO), and another which auto-locks when 1Password itself is being idle for a long time (probably set to 1 hour or more). That's the one I'm talking about.
Best regards,

@RedFeet: What Mike means is that there is only a single auto-lock timer for 1Password currently, and this is based on system user activity. Are you using 1Password on a remote system? I wonder why the system itself might not register you as active. We can consider adding additional timer/lock settings in the future, but that would further complicate things so I'm not sure it would help you in that case either.
