I having a similar problem as tom_lj. When I log in to 1password 6 on my windows computer it says "there is an authentication error, you may have recently changed your account." I do have a family account that I've had for a few months. When I sign in on the authentication page its with the same password and the rest of the information is already correctly entered. How do I fix this, so I don't have to re-enter my password? Thanks for your help.

@book6783: Just to clarify, if you've changed your account type, that will change your sign in address. For example, with an individual 1Password.com membership, this is your sign in address:

    https://my.1password.com

But with a 1Password Families (or Teams) account, you have a custom sign in address you chose when setting it up:

    https://some-family-or-team-name-you-made-up.1password.com

So if you made a change to your plan, you'll have a new sign in address, and need to use the new one instead. Does that help?

    Hi Brenty,
If I sign from the web it shows family credentials and I can log in with no problem. So, I’ll just sign in via web from now on. Thanks for your help

@book6783: I'm glad that works for you, but I'm not sure that's any way to live! The 1Password.com web interface is nice, but the native app is much more powerful. When you see this in the app:

When I log in to 1password 6 on my windows computer it says "there is an authentication error, you may have recently changed your account."

Just click the banner to re-sign in with your current account credentials. You can also find these in your account profile on 1Password.com in your browser:

    https://start.1password.com/profile

If you haven't done so for your current account credentials, please save a copy of your Emergency Kit and store it in a secure location like a safe deposit box:

    https://support.1password.com/emergency-kit/

Finally, if you're still having trouble in the app, please press Ctrl O and sign into your account using all of the current details: sign in address, email address, Secret Key, and Master Password. That will update it in the app. Let me know how it goes! :)

I’m sorry, but it didn’t work. I tried opening 1PW from the extension icon and app in Programs and it still says there is an authentication error even after Ctr O and reentering my credentials.

@book6783: Can you be more specific?

I tried opening 1PW from the extension icon and app in Programs and it still says there is an authentication error even after Ctr O and reentering my credentials.

Do you perhaps have multiple copies of 1Password installed? Please check in Control Panel > Add & Remove Programs.

If you're still having trouble, the best thing to do will be to restart your PC, reproduce the same issue, and then generate a diagnostic report so we can look at the logs to determine exactly what is happening:

    https://support.1password.com/diagnostics/

Please send it to support@agilebits.com and use the following Support ID (including the square brackets) I've setup for you as the subject of your diagnostics email before sending:

    [#HBQ-18984-644]

If you’re reading this and you are not book6783, this Support ID is for book6783 only. Please ask us for your own if you also need help.

This will link your diagnostics to our current discussion. Let me know once you've sent it. Once we see it we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance!
