Don't see primary vault on windows

Hello, I have been using 1password for years. I use it on multiple Mac, IOS devices and windows. I moved to a subscription and I don't see my primary vault on my windows machine. It's there and synced on all my Macs and IOS devices. I only see my personal vault on Windows.

  • @skippete9: Your Primary vault is a standalone vault not connected to your 1Password.com account and 1Password 6 for Windows doesn't support standalone vaults, while 1Password for Mac and iOS do. You'll want to copy any items you need from your Primary vault to your Personal vault, or you can create a new vault for them in your account and copy them there -- whatever you prefer. These items should then show up on Windows and you can delete Primary from your other devices. If you have any questions along the way, of course, you know where to find us. :chuffed:

OK. Thanks. Just to confirm, my personal Vault is the one that is sync'd to all devices (Mac, IOS, Windows) and should be the one I use going forward?

One other question, is there an easy way just to copy the items that are different or to eliminate duplicates if I move everything over?

  • @skippete9: Personal is the one that's currently syncing everywhere, yes, as will any vault you create via the method linked above. As for eliminating duplicates, 1Password cannot tell that items are duplicative, so that's largely up to you. That said, if you very recently switched to a 1Password membership, there's a distinct possibility your Primary vault is populated entirely with duplicates. 1Password for Mac and iOS will both prompt you to migrate your Primary vault items to Personal the first time you sign into your 1Password.com account. If you're certain you haven't added or edited any items since making the switch, it may well be safe to delete your Primary vault, but I'd always encourage a quick audit to be absolutely sure.

If you do want to review your items before copying, it can help to sort by title in All Vaults on Mac or iOS since you have both vaults there. This will display items with duplicate titles next to each other so you can quickly review them in pairs and delete the one that's less recent. You can also use the Duplicate Passwords function in Security Audit in a similar fashion. These can both help make the process easier, but ultimately you will need to tidy up yourself if you're uncertain whether you need those items in Primary.
