Unable to sing in, please check details provided and you network connection

I am at work. Have received a replacement laptop. Old one and new one side by side. Same account, proxy, network subnet, 1pass version, etc.
Am logged into 1password online on both laptops.
Proxy setting is 'automatic'
I use the GRC code from the clipboard for the field entry.

I'm using the 1pass app on the older laptop. Initial use of 1Pass client on new laptop gives the error typed into the title (above).

Clearly 1Password is functional at my site. How can I get it installed on the new laptop?

    steps I've tried:

    • runas admin
    • set Chrome as default
    • use proxy info (note: we use two-factor authentication, so I don't know a ID/PWD for the proxy; Browsers just use the logged-in user)
    • uninstall/reinstall 1pass

Have not uncovered any solution yet

@Tims_AgileBits: Thanks for reaching out. Have you configured your proxy settings in 1Password? It sounds like it just cannot establish a secure connection to the server. Are you able to sign into 1Password.com in your web browser?

Anyway, I see that we've received your email, so we can continue the conversation there and get diagnostics. We'll get back to you shortly! :)

I am able to log on online with either PC.
    Log sent in email.

You've mentioned 'diagnostics' there is nothing indicating a special function for diagnostics; is that just the log file?

    Resolved.
1Password is doing something weird for the first login. To get logged on, I had to install a proxy-client enabling connections to ports other than 80 or 443.

After the initial execution, I can disable the proxy-client, reboot, and still continue to use 1Password successfully.

    @Tims_AgileBits: Thank you!

I included instructions for sending diagnostics in my previous email.

Can you elaborate? I'd also love to get 1Password's diagnostics to try to correlate that with what you're seeing.

1Password the app is just trying to connect to 1Password the website via a secure connection. Anything that prevents it from doing so — proxies, firewalls, self-signed "security" certificates, or outright blocking — will cause it to fail. I'm glad to hear that worked for you, but it shouldn't be necessary, and I haven't heard of anyone else having to do that. I'll follow up with you via email to attempt to get more details. Thanks for following up!
