Using 1Password with Microsoft Surface in Touch mode.

When using 1Password in touch mode I am unable to get the virtual keyboard to show up. Then to make it worst the cancel button or the close "X" in the corner doesn't work. The only way to get out of this is to either find a keyboard or restart the Surface.

Am I missing something somewhere or is this a known issue?

  • Hi @emailscottbell,

    Thanks for writing in.

Do you have Unlock on secure desktop enabled? If yes, that can prevent the external Microsoft's keyboard process from showing up. Windows unfortunately does not detect the keyboard within the secure password field to bring up the virtual keyboard while in tablet mode and since it is an external process, it's blocked by the secure desktop security model.

To make it work, you'd have to disable the secure desktop feature within 1Password, use a hardware keyboard, or unlock 1Password before you switch to the tablet mode.

To disable the secure desktop, open 1Password 4 on regular mode, unlock, go to the File Menu > Preferences > Browsers and uncheck Unlock on Secure Desktop.
