I can't understand whether the "custom icons" feature is implemented on all platforms or not.

I've added some custom icons from the 1Password.eu web site, and this is the result:

  • 1Password.eu (on another browser): OK
  • 1Password Windows (latest stable version): no custom icons
  • 1Password Android (latest stable version): no custom icons
  • 1Password X (latest stable version): no custom icons
  • 1Password Mac (latest stable version): not tested yet

On the Windows changelog I found:

[6.8.BETA-465 (build #465) – released 2017-08-29]
Custom icon for your items is now available; 1Password will sync your existing custom icons from your 1Password account and you can now edit your items, click on its icon to add or remove a custom icon. {OPW-238, OPW-1407}

So, at least on Windows, this feature should work (I'm using v6.8.492), but it doesn't.

Did I miss something?

Thanks in advance.

Tested now on 1Password Mac and it works. So the "custom icons" feature doesn't seem to work on Windows, Android and "X" (tested on a Chromebook with Chrome v63).

@lammoth - Hi, I hope it's ok to quote @brenty, a member of the 1Password team, in this thread from the Windows beta forum: https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/84964/some-icons-missing-in-1p6-and-edge-extension

However, if you're referring to icons you've added yourself, they are not supported yet in 1Password for Windows version 6. We added preliminary support for custom icons in an earlier beta, but had to pull it because there are still some things we need to fix with that. I apologize if that threw you off. Just to clarify, your custom icons are still part of those items, but the Windows app cannot display them yet. We're hoping it won't be long though. Cheers! :)

So, as I can testify, custom icons were a feature in earlier beta builds of 1Password 6.8, and hopefully will be re-added in a future version of the Windows app :+1:

Hi @pbryanw and thank you for the clarification. That explains why custom icons are missing in the latest 1P Windows version.

  • Hi @lammoth,

Yep, we're working on bringing it back to the next version ASAP along with a few other features we're working on.

We did mention this if you go up a bit in the beta notes:

    6.8.BETA-482 (build #482) – released 2017-12-13

Hi! Here's our first release candidate for 1Password 6.8. Over the past few weeks, we've been polishing 1Password 6.8 to get it ready for its stable release. However, some new features we had in the previous beta updates are not ready for the prime time, so we'll be putting them in the next beta series. They include features like Custom Icons, Document Image Previews, the rest of the Security Audit features, and a few others we've been working on but not ready to reveal yet.

Thank you @MikeT for your feedback.

I can safely wait as it is not a mission critical feature... :p

Found this thread, does the above refer to the custom icons I would create on a Mac and that show in 1Password.com on the web and my iOS devices? I regularly customize icons for quicker reference. I work 70/30 on Mac/Windows and when I logged in on 1Password on Windows I was a little disappointed most if not all of my custom icons are gone, including my Account icons I customized with pics. Can you confirm these will sync over in the future with future updates? Thanks.

  • @mar2k sorry about confusion, all your icons are not lost and they will become visible with future update.
