Change of sync option on Windows
Hi, apologies if this has been answered somewhere else, but searching didn't produce any joy.
I have a family membership and use this to sync on all devices, which works great overw here except my pc. On my pc, it still tries to sync with the former Dropbox method, which now isn't working anyway. So now I have a set of offline logins on my pc that I've realised aren't syncing to my mobile devices.
I have tried to find a way to tell my pc to sync with my membership, but no options like this are readily apparent.
Any advice welcome!
AJ

Hi @anutting,
Thanks for writing in.
On Windows only, we have separate programs for separate sync options. In this case, you need to download 1Password 6 for Windows from here: https://1Password.com/downloads/
Once you open it, you can sign in and your 1Password data should show up right away ready for you. Be sure to copy over the data you may have saved to the standalone vault within 1Password 4 to 1Password 6. After that, you can uninstall 1Password 4 and 1Password 6 should work the way you expect it to.
If 1Password extension is grayed out as the result of uninstalling 1Password 4, open the main 1Password 6 app, unlock, go to the 1Password Menu > Settings. In Settings, go to the Advanced tab and on the bottom, check the boxes next to Enable Native Messaging for Chrome and for Firefox as well.

Thanks for the response Mike, but I already have version 6 (recently updated to 6.8.488), and those check boxes are ticked in the advanced settings tab.
I was wondering if I should just remove my dropbox vault and if this might then get it to use the membership to sync instead?0 -
@anutting: Sure! You can import your data from your existing local vault into your 1Password.com account using 1Password 6:
Move your existing 1Password data to a 1Password account
Once you've done that, your 1Password data will be accessible to you just by signing into your account on a device, no need to sync using Dropbox.
I hope this helps. Be sure to let me know if you have any other questions! :)

Ok, so this is confusing as I already have it installed on my PC, and I don't want to lose the offline data. So, how do I find the right vault data file? (I seem to have two sqlite files for 1password) and how do I import this into the same 1password install I am presently using? or, do I need to uninstall, then re-install then use the sqlite file?

Hi there @anutting,
I am sorry for this ongoing confusion! Your local vault in 1Password should have
.agilekeychain
or.opvault
file extension, not sqlite. Please try to do the following, if you still have 1Password 4 installed on your PC:1) Open and unlock 1Password 4 and go to File > Reopen 1Password Vault. Check what vault you are using there.
2) After that, open and unlock 1Password 6 on your PC and go to 1Password > Import > AgileKeychain or OPVault folder. Select your local vault you located in step 1 in order to import it to your 1Password account in 1Password 6.
If you don't have 1Password 4 installed on your computer, please try to find your vault folder manually via Windows Explorer and do a second step only. Let us know how it goes. Thank you very much! :+1:
Cheers,

Ok, I can't find any files with either of those extensions on my PC. I definitely don't have 1password 4 installed any more. I have only 1password 6.
I still have a dropbox vault installed, but isn't connecting.
Any other ideas where the data would be?

Hi @anutting,
Could you please specify what do you mean by "I still have a dropbox vault installed"?
Additionally, please share a Diagnostics Report from your PC, where you have your offline logins. Here is how you can create it:
Sending Diagnostics Reports (Windows)
Attach the Diagnostics Report to an email message addressed to support+windows@agilebits.com. Please do not post your Diagnostic Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your report in our inbox.
You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Suapport ID number. Please post that number here so we can track down the report and ensure that this issue is dealt with quickly. Thank you!

Hi Greg,
Ok, so I had been syncing with Dropbox in the past, but thought I'd changed over to the membership option. I must have done something wrong though as it seems it has kept syncing with Dropbox. Up until it had a login error late in 2017. Now I have my main vault installed as well as a separate Dropbox vault that is having a login error I'm assuming is why it stopped syncing. This is because it is asking for a key that seems to be different to my existing key. I don't remember ever setting up a separate Dropbox vault though so I don't have a key.
I've since found an opvault file in my Dropbox account that I'm thinking is from the last successful sync. So, I'm going to try using this. I'm pretty sure I'll lose all the offline logins, but I'm just wanting a solution at this stage. If this doesn't work I'll send of the logs as suggested.

Ok, so this is weird. It just synced. I think perhaps because I logged into my dropbox account it somehow jolted it back into action? Anyway, all of my offline logins are now synced across my devices, so looks like I'm all good again. I assume now I just grab the opvault file from dropbox and import this. Do I need to uninstall and re-install before doing so to remove the dropbox syncing?

1Password 6 for Windows does not support local vaults at the moment, so it is not able to update your local vault in Dropbox. Please create a diagnostics report from 1Password app on your computer (as I described above), so we could take a closer look at your current setup and clarify this ongoing confusion. Thank you!
