I am having issues seemingly across all my internet usage. Cannot get through at all. ESET say Google is untrusted.

    Hi there @wkleem,

    I am sorry to hear you are having troubles! I changed the title of this thread to avoid any confusion until we understand what is going on.

    I don't quite comprehend the issue you are talking about. You were saying that 1Password is untrusted in the title, could you please specify what do you mean by that? What does 1Password has to do with the issues across your internet usage?

    We are always ready to help you with 1Password, but the general questions about your internet usage are outside of our control. I hope for your understanding. Thank you!

    Cheers,
    Greg

    @Greg

    I cannot explain what actually happened because in addition to Chrome and ESET, 1Password from the Systray also appeared to Prompt it was insecure and could not make a connection.

    I am not certain wrt 1Password whether the message will reappear or not. Here is a screenshot for Dropbox.

    Having checked the date, it was set forward 9 months into October. I have now changed it back. I did not notice the change earlier.

    @wkleem: Any app that requires a secure connection will have the same problem — 1Password for update checks, for example. The issue is that something is wrong with your system, either something as simple as date/time, or perhaps the certificate store.

    Thanks. Problem solved, at least, for now.

  • Hi @wkleem,

    That's great, thanks for letting us know. Was there a Windows update installed around the same time? I recall one Windows update that changed my time settings and that tripped a lot of the security issues such as invalidating most of the certificates.

    @MikeT,

    I did install the January 2018 update to mitigate Meltdown this morning. I am uncertain if it had anything to do with the issue I had 6 hours ago (5.00 pm my time) when I first noticed 1Password wasn't connecting.

    If a restart doesn't do it, definitely check your date/time/zone. It's easy for those to get off if you're not using a device with a cellular connection, unfortunately.

    Thanks. My laptop does not have cellular. I did discover on another laptop that Intel's Management Engine has a security hole but Sony exited the business in 2014!

    Since I cannot fix this on my own, I will have to send the laptop in, if they will accept it.

    Interesting, but I think we're getting off-topic. Just thought I'd mention it in case that helps you sort out the secure connection issue. :)
