Local Vault Location Selectable? [7.0.511 Beta]

Is it currently possible to select the location for the local vault? And (doesn't seem to be, just making sure it ain't broken) where does it get stored? Or does it get stored as part of the local cache in local/1password/app? Wondering if this is something that could then be saved in a syncing folder or not? (open vault seems to hint that the location could be variable).

Also, side note, lock animation (which I just love) seems a bit choppier than in the last 6.x branch code.

  • Hi @AlwaysSortaCurious,

    Thanks for writing in.

Not yet, we’re working on it as we speak.

All standalone vaults are stored in the local database, the same database that we use to host the 1Password.com accounts. When you make changes, it is saved first into the database. If sync is enabled for the vault, 1Password would then write from the database to the OPVault file in the folder you’ll select. When you open an existing vault, we’ll import it into the database, and then monitor that folder to pick up changes made to it.

This is identical to the way 1Password work on macOS.

Hmm, we thought we did fix the choppier animation but we’ll look into it again. We’re also looking into updating the lock design a bit to match the latest design from macOS/iOS, this will be done later when we’re close to the release candidate, which is a bit far away.
