[Question]Autofill Design

When I press Ctrl + Alt+ \, mini window shows the exact matched card. Click the card to autofill. Is this by design to click to autofill or a bug?

Thanks for writing in, that's a good question and this is a major area of improvement we plan to do in the near future.

1Password mini has two separate modes depending on the frontmost app. If you're bringing it up on a browser, you'll see the bottom statusbar saying "Filling in ".

If you're outside of a browser, it'll do Go and Fill for Logins only with the "Opening in default browser" statusbar, the second mode. For non-Login items, 1Password will open these items in your main 1Password window.

You can always click on "All Items" on 1Password mini sidebar or press Alt + 2 to search the whole database and right-click on the item to open it in the main 1Password app to edit or view them.

We're planning to simplify the whole 1Password mini experience to be more intuitive but we don't have a timeframe.

When Ctrl + Alt+ \ is pressed and only one matched card is available, it's better to fill automatically instead of clicking the card.

@hubpf: No. Ctrl Alt \ isn't for filling. it's the keyboard shortcut to open 1Password mini, for example if you want to do a search, or open mini outside of the browser. Ctrl \ is the "fill login" shortcut. Have you tried that?

The next follow-up question is how we can change this shortcut setting? I look through under settings, only see option for Ctrl+Alt+. People may not even know Ctrl+\ is to fill while Ctrl+Alt+\ is to open 1Password mini.

@hubpf: Sorry for the confusion. They both change together. Whatever key you set there — be it \ or something else — will apply both to fill login (Ctrl plus the key you choose) and open 1Password mini (Ctrl Alt plus the key you choose). Does that help?

Hi @hubpf,

We have plans to redesign the entire shortcut view, they’ll be separated out into two or more separate shortcut options that you can adjust completely, not just the last key. This mean you could change it to Alt + Shift + \ if you want.
