When trying to update 1password 7, using the check for updates... menu option, the updater does not launch and breaks.

  • I can replicate this error, and provide full log if needed
  • This error does not show if trying to update via the 1password preferences --> Updates --> Check now section

Extract of the error log

Hello! I'm using BETA-5 (7.0.BETA-5 (70000005)) and it still crashes. I'm using pt-BR, maybe it has something to do with localizations (I see that setInformativeText is passing along a nil value).

  • @felipekellermann It sounds like 1Password for Mac might not be checking for beta updates. 1Password 7 is a beta, so it needs to be:

    1. Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
    2. From the menu bar, choose 1Password > Preferences, then click Advanced.
    3. Turn on "Include beta builds".
    4. Check for updates.

Let me know how that goes!

there is a bug I updated to one password7 paid for full product and then registering on this forum did not add my login to 1 password

  • @MarkRyder1 Did you get prompted to save a Login item when you created an account here? If not, are you using Safari? If you are, there are some things to try to get 1Password working properly in Safari:

If you're having trouble using 1Password 7 in Safari

no and I'm on latest safari

  • @MarkRyder1 Okay, what happens when you click the 1Password icon in your Safari toolbar? Does it show your items?

It's worth trying to sign in to another website you haven't saved a Login item for yet, even just using a fake email address and password, just to see if 1Password prompts you to save it.

yes every thing looks fine there is another issue sometimes when I use the new search box I can not type in it its not instantly responsive I think it only happened when I was trying to find my PayPal to pay for the app as it was not coming up using your paypal pop up it seems too be working fine now so might all be connected to the upgrade

tried to generate a new password and got same freeze as above image also when copying and pasting new password it was not saved in my 1password (brand new entry/site)

I tried to open 1passwrd7 using the dropdown but it would not launch so I had to find it in applications in order to create a new login manually

Do you by any chance still have 1Password 6 on your system?

    Stephen

  • @MarkRyder1 In addition to what Stephen mentioned about 1Password 6 still being installed, what happens when you open Finder or any app other than Safari, then click 1Password in the menu bar?

@MarkRyder1 - sounds good; let us know how it goes! Also, make sure you restart your Mac after you've finished dragging 1Password 6 for Mac to the trash and emptying the trash.
