Vault selection - manual path input

First of all, thank you for bringing 1P 7 beta into the Windows world, it's an enormous improvement over the venerable version 4.

I have a feature request. Could you please add a manual input field into the vault selection dialog. Just let us enter a vault path.

Right now, it opens a Windows folder selection dialog with a tree in it. This won't let you select a networked vault in a number of scenarios:

• the vault resource is in a different workgroup/domain, so it's not listed under the "Network" tree
• the vault host does not broadcast itself to the network (or Windows is stupid and won't refresh the list)
• the vault host is only accessible by IP
• typing a path is faster :)

This is not new, all previous 1Password versions had this limitation. It would be great to finally have it solved in the version that was specifically targeted to bring file vault support into Windows. Sorry if it conflicts with your online subscription model :D, we really need this.

Thanks for writing in.

In the next beta update, the entire workflow has changed for adding the local vault. It looks like this now:

The first Beta is always the roughest but we will continue to simplify, polish and iterate for a better experience.

Just to clarify, 1Password 6/7 is a new codebase, no line of code is reused from 1Password 4. That's why it will take some time to get the best parts from 1Password 4 as it had 7 years of mature development behind it.
