App activation links not working

Some apps provide a link that can be clicked to put-activate them.
In 1Password 6, you could enter the link (something like x-whatevermyappnameis:regname=My%20Name&regnumber=mysuperlongserialnumber) and set it up as a "link". From there, you could click it and it would launch the app to activate it.
In 1password 7 this no longer works since 1Password automatically uses https:// at the beginning of the string when you set it up as a link.
It therefore gives you a warning that the link couldn't be opened in your web-browser instead of parsing it to the Finder to be handled by the corresponding app.

@cortig: I suspected you were right, but I really had to dig to find an item of my own to prove it. At any rate, I was able to reproduce this and file an issue. Sorry for the inconvenience there. Thanks for bringing it up! :)

I'm glad you were able to reproduce it. Not that many apps use that scheme, but some do (obviously)…

  • Just to clarify @cortig: these same items work as you expect in 1Password 6?
