The "Categories" left side bar expansion state is not saved discussion was closed mostly because of what brenty quoted above, referring to the secondary issue you'd brought up there (emphasis added):

Me too with this one and the window size fails to be maintained

That was after he'd acknowledged jadchaar's report, which was the primary issue there. Then comments were exchanged about only the secondary issue.

Reporting and discussing different issues within a single discussion can be confusing to follow so we chose to close that one at that point. Here's one that's still open specifically about this issue:
