New new mini kills my CPU. Especially when scrolling lists with the keyboard.

I may be wrong but based on the sluggishness, the high CPU usage and the high memory usage, it sure feels like the new mini is no longer a native app but has been instead converted to some HTML/CSS solution like Electron.

Can someone on the dev team confirm this and also explain why this decision was made (other than consolidating the codebase)?

  • The new mini is native, Cocoa/AppKit/Swift. There will be improvements to the animation performance in the future (I can't make a solid time table estimate).

I'll have a look at the CPU load while keyboarding.

@chadseld good to hear that you all didn't go Electron!

  • I am having the same problem. Opened an issue this morning.

  • A fix has been implemented and will be available in the next release. Thank you for for reporting the issue.
