1Password no longer works on Windows 10 laptop?
I don't know what change Agile made to their software recently but now 1password no longer works on my Windows 10 laptop, and Agile tech support is clueless. It still works fine on my iPad and iPhone X but not on the laptop, even after a complete uninstall (via Revo Uninstall) and re-install. Yes I paid good money for this, not the free trial version, and have been using it for a few years. This cluelessness crap with Agile has been going on for almost a week already.
Agile tech support recommended I switch to a subscription model. WTF? The old model was working fine for me, and they gave no clue if they were going to discontinue it?
Can anyone recommend a decent password manager where they actually take customer satisfaction seriously? Agile clearly does not, and why would I trust a company with that philosophy with my password data?

Thank you for your support email but it still does not work.
I downloaded the v4 version on my laptop, installed it, then opened it. I told it to install the plugin for Firefox and Chrome. Then I went to use it in Firefox and Chrome, where clicking on the icon in the browers came up with the same situation that I've been seeing where it doesn’t work.
I would assume that the software [redacted] wouldn't install the v7 plugin when I tell it to install the plugin using the desktop v4 software?

Hi @squawk1200,
I've redacted some of the strings in your reply. This is a public forum, so let's have a decent conversation.
It sounds like you still have 1Password 6/7 installed on your PC. If you are planning to use 1Password 4 for Windows, please uninstall 1Password 6/7. Here is how:
1) On the Start menu, select Settings.
2) Select System > Apps & features.
3) Find 1Password 6/7 there and then select Uninstall.1Password extension should connect to 1Password 4 after that. Additionally, please make sure that you have Native Messaging enabled in 1Password 4 > Help > Advanced.
You should be all set after that, but please let me know how it goes. Thank you!

Greg, my apologies. Such a simple problem (which is now working, thanks to your advice), a problem that should not have happened and would have been solved easily a week ago had the tech answered as you did, instead of pushing the merits of a subscription, which was stepping on an already-frayed last nerve.
You were right - 1PWD v4 and v6 both installed, removed both via Revo Uninstaller, reinstalled v4, removed plugins from Firefox and Chrome, re-added them, now all is well with the world and the sun continues to set in the west.
Thank you.

Hi @squawk1200,
You are very welcome! :+1:
Again, I apologise for this confusing situation. The thing is that 1Password 4 for Windows is an old version of 1Password for Windows that will not receive any new features in the future. We have released 1Password 7 for Windows recently, so please check it out:
1Password 7 for Windows: The Best Ever
1Password 7 for Windows supports both standalone licenses and 1Password accounts, so you can use it the way you used to. However, It is a paid upgrade for the current 1Password 4 for Windows license owners, but it is included free for everyone with a 1Password membership. That is why we recommended to take a closer look at 1Password membership, as it is the best way to use 1Password now. We had no intention to force you to sign up for an account and I am glad to hear that 1Password 4 for Windows works for you now.
Please let me know if you have any other questions, we are always ready to help you with 1Password.
Have a wonderful week!
Cheers,

I am willing to upgrade, as long as 1Password7 can still use my same password vault with hundreds of passwords stored there, and I can still use 1Password in the same way using the same vault on my iPhoneX and Ipad, and as long as the upgrade will be painless and seamless after paying. Can you verify that is the case?

Hi @squawk1200,
You should be able to open your local vault in 1Password 7, but there is a twist. Our old
.agilekeychain
vaults are no longer supported in 1Password 7, so if you open one, it gets automatically converted to.opvault
. I will be happy to help you with this migration process, so please check your inbox (I've just sent you an email). :) Let's continue our conversation there. Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Greg0
