firefox plugin doesn't work, stays grey

Plugin v4.7.3.90
FF v61.0.2

The plugin icon remains steadfastly grey and I cannot persuade it to work in FF.
I tried using native mode and a FF restart, but no dice.

    @head4heights: If enabling Native Messaging doesn't sort things out, we're likely to need to take a closer look at some diagnostics to track down the trouble.

    Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support+forum@agilebits.com.
