We don't have any control over whether Safari chooses to take the enabled state of the legacy Safari extension (if present) to transition that into an enabled state for the Safari App Extension we're shipping with 7.2. If you attempt to use 1Password via the Safari extension and the Safari extension isn't enabled it should result in the Preferences window opening with the 1Password extension selected.

no, i did not describe the problem clearly. i have no legacy extension. it is that 1P 7.2 b9 does not enable its own, built in extension function in safari. previous beta had no such problem

Thanks for reporting this, unfortunately we don't have any control over whether Safari keeps the extension enabled from update to update. Out of curiosity did you update via the in-app updater or did you install it via the the .pkg file?
