How do I get the windows client to convert a second 4.x version vault?

I made a copy of my main vault to test the conversion. The test version was not the most up to date version of my vault. The test went well but now I want convert the production version of my 4.x vault and start using it going forward. But I am not sure how to proceed?

  • Hi @wgale2760,

    Thanks for writing in.

It sounds like you want to remove the first vault and add the original vault.

    Here's how:

    1. Click on the vault selector on top left (it may say All Vaults right now) or View menu > Show vaults to expand the vaults list on the sidebar.
    2. Click *** next to the first vault to select Remove vault.
    3. Now, add the original vault via 1Password menu > Open vault on this PC.

I have noticed a conversion issue on my test vault that I am not sure how to fix. I had a addon product running on my 4.0 vault that allowed me to group different records into a number of folders such as insurance, banks ect. None of these converted on the test? is there extensions that need to be added?

  • Hi @wgale2760,

They're converted to be nested tags, expand the parent tag to see the rest of the nested tags; like so:

To add a nested tag to any of your items, just add / like insurance/work.

I placed a lot of tag on individual records, never wishing to use these are way to group in a displayable folder structure. If I delete the tag in the nested tag display will I remove the tag from the record?

  • @wgale2760: If you delete a tag in the sidebar, it will remove it from all records with that tag. One thing to be aware of is that 1Password 7 doesn't support folders at all. It uses tags exclusively. That said, these are meant to be flexible – you can add them to one record or multiple, nested or not. It's up to you. :+1:
