Standard vault to saving switches all the time to "online"
Hi, I am using the family plan since a few weeks and I set my vault to save new entrys to a private vault stored on my PC.
After every restart, the 1PW App switches this vault back to the standard "online" vault, which I don't want to use for this.
This is really annoying. Is there a fix or why is this happening all the time?
Best,
Thomas

Hi @xannasavin,
Thanks for reporting this.
We're not sure why it is happening to a very small number of users but we suspect it has to do with something blocking 1Password from updating its external configuration files, which is why it resets when you restart it. We're working on an update to remove the said files and switching to our internal database to store the configuration data.
For now, try this and see if it helps:
- Exit 1Password via the 1Password menu > Exit in the main 1Password program
- Open Windows File Explorer and enter the following in the address bar:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\1Password\data
- You should see a file called user.json, move this to your desktop. Note, doing this means your 1Password settings will reset to default settings.
- Open 1Password and apply the desired settings you want 1Password to use, specifically the default vault for saving.

Hi Mike, thanks for your answer.
I did like you described.
After deleting the file, I opened 1PW and unlocked it - the window border was visible only and after some seconds the unlocking screen apeared againg.
However, after unlocking a second time, I saw everything like normal and changed the settings.
Unfortunately upon the next restart (Exit 1PW, start again), the same behaviour with the two times unlocking appeared and the setting for the standard vault was back to Online again.
I copied the user.json saved on my Desktop back to the folder (overwriting the new one) and at least the strange "two times unlocking" bug is gone now.0 -
Hi @xannasavin,
I just tried that, I can't reproduce it. Please use this guide to generate the 1Password diagnostic report and email it to us at support+windows@1Password.com. Also, in the email, include the link to this thread along with your forum username, so that we can connect the email to this thread.
Let us know here when you've sent it, so we can confirm we got the email.

Hey Mike, mail was sent. A lot of information you collect in that report ^^
Best,

Yes, the report contains your system information, running programs, etc that often helps us figure out what's going on. We often find weird issue caused by something else that's not within 1Password, which is why we need to collect these diagnostics information. Note, we don't collect private information at all.
To be clear, we do not collect this automatically at all and not without your permission; the report has to be manually generated by you and you can choose to email it to us.
I found your email and we'll reply to your email as soon as we finish reading the report.
