👉 Please allow permanent sort by Title in 1Password for Windows
Hello 1Password team,
since a few updates on 1Password for Windows, the sort order (for example "Title") is no longer remembered when switching categories or after restarting the app.
This makes it cumbersome to work with large vaults, because I always have to re-set "Sort by Title" every time I open the app or change the view.
It would be very helpful to have:
- either a global default sort option (e.g. always by Title),
- or that 1Password simply remembers the last chosen sort order reliably.
Is this planned, or could you please consider adding it?

We’ve fixed an issue where the sorting for an item list wasn’t maintained after you navigated away from the current list. Please update to 1Password version 8.11.8 or later.

I am still having this issue. 1P: 8.11.8.40 and Windows 10.0.26100 (all updates applied) on 9/15/2025

I'm sorry that you're still seeing an issue. When you see the issue, are you using the 1Password for Windows desktop app? Or are you using the web app at 1Password.com in your browser?
The issue being discussed in this thread was specific to the desktop app. There's a separate thread for the web app here: 1Password.com does not remember the item list sort order once the tab is closed

Just to confirm for anyone else who stumbles here that this isn't a Windows-only issue. I'm seeing this behaviour on macOS with 1Password version 8.11.4

Thank you for the reports. The sort order not being preserved when switching between items lists is a bug in the latest versions of 1Password. Our developers are aware of the issue and are currently testing a fix in the latest beta version of 1Password.
Once testing is complete the fix will be released to production version as well. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

It always returns back to ordering by time after context is switched.

I whole-heartedly agree with this and I second the request. It is extremely annoying that every view always resets to sorting by Date Modified every time the view is changed.
