I was trying out 1Password 8 primarily to see if biometric unlocking would help a specific user. However, I could not find the settings which are available in the Preferences>Vault pane of 1Password ...

Yep! The aim is to have new features available on all platforms if it's technically possible. I can't say for sure when this will be added to 1Password for iOS, but it is on the roadmap. :)
