1Password on Linux fails to export passwords to 1PUX
Hi,
1Password for Linux 8.12.5 (81205001) fails to export to 1PUX on Ubuntu 24.04.
After typing the master password, pressing 'Export Data' nothing happens (I was expecting the window to select where to save the file).
In fact I tried it on two Ubuntu 24.04 machines, and the same happens on both.

Hello segasai! 👋
I'm sorry that export isn't working in the 1Password app on your Linux devices. As a first step, try the steps in this article: If you see “update your settings to export data” or you can’t upload or download files in 1Password for Linux
If that doesn't work, or doesn't apply to your situation, I'd like to ask you to create and share a 1Password diagnostics report from your Linux device:
Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support@1password.comWith your email please include:
- A link to this thread: https://www.1password.community/discussions/1password/1password-on-linux-fails-to-export-passwords-to-1pux/168236

From the link posted by the mod the page mentions
`sysctl -w kernel.yama.ptrace_scope=1`
which fixes the issue.
It makes no sense to me why this needs to be set for the file-picker to work (i.e. to me this seems like a bug in 1p), but at least that solved the issue for me.- AJCxZ0Silver Expert
Thanks for sharing that detail.
I see that I have `kernel.yama.ptrace_scope = 1`, but have never heard of `kernel.yama`. Of course I've not heard of many sysctls, but wonder how this one got changed.

For what little it's worth, the 1Password for Linux 8.12.6 (81206039) client on my Ubuntu 24.04.4 desktop works just as you and I expect, as it has on every previous occasion.
So what was causing this to break on your systems?
PS. Export silently fails is woefully lacking in detail, but appears both related and resolved.
