1Password/Mac unhides app window on menubar mouseover

If the 1Password app is hidden (ex: cmd-H), and the 1Password icon is in the menubar:

mousing over that icon (in the menubar), causes the app (whether vault is locked or unlocked) to show its window (though not necessarily to bring it to the front).

I suppose I can see how someone might want that? though I find it distracting.

I've seen this behavior for quite some time, but I'm currently using:

1Password for Mac 8.10.40 (81040031)

on macOS 15.3.1 (24D70)

updated manually (strange that it didn't relaunch afterward) and now on  1Password for Mac 8.10.64 (81064007) - with the same behavior

  • Hello mvr! πŸ‘‹

Thanks for reaching out. Before we continue, it looks like you're using a version of 1Password 8 that hasn't been updated since August 2024. The latest version is 8.10.64, please update: How to keep 1Password up to date

Once you've updated, can you still reproduce the issue? I can't reproduce the issue using these steps:

    1. Open the main 1Password window.
    2. Right-click on the 1Password icon in the Dock and click Hide.
    3. Hover over the 1Password icon in the menu bar.

Let me know if I misunderstood the issue.
