1PW8 - missing OTP QR code scanner?
The OTP QR code scanner feature is missing. If I click "add OTP" then it just shows a text string field. Nothing else. No Option to scan the Code or paste the QR code Pic into 1PW app

I would like to better understand the use case y'all have in mind for wanting this feature in the app rather than directly in the browser. To me personally I find having the QR Code scanner available directly within the browser to be exactly what I want. I'm already in my browser browsing away when I go to enable 2FA on a site and see the QRCode. All I need to do is open the popup, use the login that is (usually) already selected for me, click the overflow icon, and select Scan QR Code. From there 1Password will automatically scan the code, add the secret to the selected item, and fill the current one-time password into the field.
A quick click to verify the filled one-time password on the site and I'm done. It's super slick. When I compare that to needing to switch apps, there are a lot more steps:
- Switch to the main app
- Search for the login I want to update
- Enter edit mode
- Add a new field One-Time Password field
- Click the QR Code icon (assuming we added it back)
- Help the scanner find the QR Code (i.e. switch apps, scroll to make sure it's fully visible)
- Save the login
- Once again go back to the browser
- Paste the one-time password
This is how I used to do things. It was pretty cool but it was quite disjointed with a lot of context switching. After using the incredibly slick browser-integrated approach I've never looked back.
So I'm curious what is the driving force behind this request to add this functionality to the app. Is it because you're scanning codes that are outside of a browser or are finding the browser integrated approach isn't supporting your use case?
Thanks for sharing.
