Autofill not working on Android tablet with keyboard

I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+ with a detachable Samsung EF-DX820  keyboard/case cover. Both the tablet and 1Password releases are current.

With the physical keyboard active, autofill doesn't work.  If I lift the tablet off of the keyboard, I get an on-screen virtual keyboard and autofill works as expected.

How can I get the best of both worlds? I want the keyboard working along with autofill, just like I get on my Windows desktops.

    Hello ewilts! 👋

    I'm sorry that Autofill isn't working properly when you have a physical keyboard attached to your Samsung tablet. Are you using the default software Samsung Keyboard? It looks like there might be an issue with autofill suggestions when that software keyboard is being used. 

    Are you able to try a third-party keyboard like Gboard to see if the issue still occurs when your physical keyboard is attached? This will help to confirm where the issue is occurring.

      Hi Dave. It works fine as long as the virtual keyboard is on the screen whether it's the Samsung keyboard or GBoard. There is a setting that allows both the virtual and hardware keyboard to work simultaneously - and then 1Password works - but then I lose a lot of screen real estate while typing. If Gboard is the default keyboard, then I get a virtual keyboard which is not really what I want.  

      I did some more googlin' and it appears that this is a known 1Password that's been outstanding for at least 4 years: https://www.1password.community/discussions/1password/cannot-use-1password-on-samsung-tablet-with-keyboard-cover/109064

      It also seems to be an issue with Bitwarden and KeePass so it may be an Android limitation that we need to find a solution for.

      I've seen a few recommended workarounds but none appear to work to allow me to autofill passwords while using only a physical keyboard.
