Can't save a new login - clicking the popup save button does nothing?

So on Safari Version 18.2 (20620.1.16.11.8) on Mac Sequoia 15.2 when you use a new website the popup window appears with the new details and there is a save button - but clicking it does nothing.

1Password Version: 8.10.58
Extension Version: 8.10.56.28
OS Version: 15.2
Browser: Safari

  • Yes I did - See below- fixed the issue for me

This sounds to me like a syncing issue, where the 1Password browser extension couldn't send that new item "up" to 1Password.com, so that it can come back "down" to the other 1Password apps. It's important to keep in mind in cases like this that the 1Password browser extension and the main 1Password app both connect through 1Password.com, rather than one being a projection of the other, which lends credence to what's going on here, potentially.

The only thing that the 1Password browser extension and the main 1Password app exchange directly is authentication for your 1Password account – this is why if you unlock one, the other unlocks too. I wonder whether that's maybe not working as it should be.

If you find that you're in a similar situation, can you try resetting that connection and let me know if it helps? Here's what to do:

    1. Right-click the 1Password icon in your browser toolbar and choose Settings.
    2. On the General tab, turn off Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app and turn it back on. Keep this page open for now.
    3. Open and unlock the main 1Password app.
    4. Click the 🔽 down arrow at the top of the sidebar and choose Settings….
    5. On the Browser tab, turn off "Connect with 1Password in the browser” and turn it back on.
    6. Go back to the Settings page for the 1Password browser extension you opened in step 2, and make sure it says "Integration status: Connected 🟢”. You might have to toggle it off and on one more time.

If everything's working as it should be now, and it sounds like it might well be, there's no need to do that process but keep it up your sleeve in case you run into a similar problem again and try it out. We'll be here if you need anything or have any questions, so please do get in touch.

  • Hello Twobelowzero! 👋

I'm sorry that you're unable to save your login Safari. I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from 1Password in your browser:

    Sending Diagnostics Reports (browser extension)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support+forum@1password.com.

    With your email please include:

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number.  Please post that number here.  Thanks very much!

I'm having precisely this problem ... with the additional problem that the "Edit" button simply dismisses the popup.

Twobelowzero, did you get a response from 1P_Dave or anyone from 1Password?
