how do i undo...

I wanted to delete a vault eg vaultA but wanted to keep the items inside it.

Step 1 - I tagged all vault items eg _vaultA

Step 2 - I archived all items tagged _vaultA

Step 3 - With vaultA now empty, I deleted the vault.

Disaster: all archived items are gone.

Is there a way to undelete?

    Too late.

Allow me to note that the vault deletion workflow can be improved.

    Suggestion:
    - vault deletion marks the vault for permanent deletion 48 hours later
    - the confirmation message explicitly states that "X items and Y archived items will be deleted"
    - user can chose Delete Forever if they do not want to wait for 48 hours

    Thanks!

I want to acknowledge how frustrating this situation must be, and I’m really sorry you ran into it. The vault deletion prompt does include an explicit warning that archived items will be permanently deleted as part of that action. That said, your feedback is valuable, and I’ve shared it with the team to explore whether we can make this clearer or improve the experience going forward.

  • Hello stratis! 👋

Thank you for reaching out. I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this, I can imagine how stressful it must be to realize those items were deleted. We'll do everything that we can to help you from here. When you choose to permanently delete a vault, all archived items in that vault will also be permanently deleted as warned in the prompt that appears in the 1Password app:

I recommend that you immediately set any devices where you're using 1Password offline (disconnect them completely from the internet) to try to prevent them from syncing the vault deletion. Then, please send an email to support@1Password.com so that our support team can take a closer look and include a link to this thread. After emailing in, you'll receive a reply from BitBot, our friendly robot assistant with a Support ID that looks something like [#ABC-12345-678]. Post that here, and I'll be able to locate your message and make sure it's gotten to the right place.
