How to associate a credentials with an app?
I have an account in Banorte (it's a Mexican bank). I keep my credentials (login/password) to it in 1password. It works fine on their website https://www.banorte.com. They also have an app, Banorte Móvil https://apps.apple.com/mx/app/banorte-movil/id374817863. And if the app asks for the password I can successfully open 1password, but 1password cannot find the credentials automatically. I have to search it every time and then 1password complain "1Password can't verify the app or website should have access to your Banorte login."
How can I associate the credentials to the app so 1password could find it automatically and I don't have to confirm the exception every time?

I have a similar problem: A product I use has been acquired and changed brand name. The website url is unchanged (https://app.22seven.com/) but the iOS app is now called Vault22 (https://apps.apple.com/za/app/vault22/id611120440). When I log into the app on my iPhone there is no associated item and when I search my vault I get the message "Fill Anyway? 1Password can't verify..." and I can click "Allow Once", but I have to do this each time I log in. I would like to be able to create a separate vault entry for the new app, but I don't know how to find the correct url to associate it with.

Thanks for reaching out! If you don't see Fill & Update Login when you search for and tap on a Login Item then it means that the developer of that app hasn't added an associated domain and there is nothing for Password AutoFill to use to match the app to a Login item in 1Password. This means that you'll need to search for the correct Login item.
You can contact the developer of an app to have them add a specific URL as an associated domain for their app so that you don't need to manually add another URL to your login items. Here is Apple's developer page regarding associated domains (it can help to share this with the developer of the app in question): Supporting Associated Domains | Apple Developer Documentation

Thank you. I have forwarded your message to the developers.

Android works a little differently differently from iOS since it includes unique identifiers for apps that can be used to link an Android app to a Login item. If you're running into issues with 1Password for Android then I recommend creating a new thread in our Android category or reaching out to

so that our team can help. 🙂-Dave

Dave, what's the matching logic for Android? Also, is 1password considering other ways to address this? For me, this is biggest source of frustration with 1password, which I really love otherwise.

Hi I came across this post and had the same frustration.
I would like at least the “Suggested Items” to be non-blank. Ideally it should display items filled by frequency or last used ones, and we could pin a few frequently used passwords there. Otherwise it’s very annoying to select search box on the top and manually search through “other logins” which is ordered by name, then click “Allow once” for apps that doesn’t provide the associated domain info.

Dave, Yes, I understood those facts from your very clear previous answer. The operative text in my post was:
“The likelihood of an individual 1P user being able to reach, and then persuade the developers seems vanishingly small. I wonder if 1P folks could intercede with them, at least for the very common domains.”

I'm sorry that you're running into the same issue. I recommend reporting the issue to the developer of the app in question. 1Password relies on iOS AutoFill to correctly suggest logins in an app when filling based on that app's associated domain and the developer of the app would be in the best position to get that working on their end.
1Password only provides the data for the AutoFill experience on iOS and isn't involved in with the AutoFill process itself, that's handled by iOS.

I’m having exactly the same problem, in my case with the app for Patient Gateway, which covers all the doctors and facilities in the Mass General megaplex. So while the OP’s specific instance may be relatively rare, this one encompasses a very large user base, at least in the Northeast US.
The likelihood of an individual 1P user being able to reach, and then persuade the developers seems vanishingly small. I wonder if 1P folks could intercede with them, at least for the very common domains.
If not, at least now I know this isn’t something I did wrong in setting up the entry.
PS: Many thanks to the OP for documenting the problem so clearly. I came here to post it, and would not have been so concise.

I'm happy to help. Hopefully the developer adds an associated domain in the future.
