I'm sorry for the confusion, you're correct that you need to open 1Password.com in your browser in order to change your account password and I'm happy to hear that you were able to do so.
When I got to that screen, a box pops up saying "Would you like to save this password in your iCloud Keychain to Autofill on all your devices. Enter the username for this account to finish saving your password and allow Safari to Autofill.
It sounds like you have the built-in password manager enabled in Safari on your Mac. I recommend that you disable it by following these steps:
- Open Safari.
- Click on Safari next to the  in the menu bar.
- Click on Preferences.
- Click the AutoFill icon.
- Turn off all the AutoFill web forms settings:
- "Using info from my contacts"
- "User names and passwords"
- "Credit cards"
- "Other forms"
Once the built-in password manager is disabled make sure that 1Password for Safari is installed: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/1password-for-safari/id1569813296?mt=12
I always check "Not Now" as I'm not sure what this means. If I did check it, would I automatically open 1Password? What if someone else clicked on the 1Password icon, would they see all my passwords?
By following the steps above you'll disable the built-in password manager so that you no longer see the message. No one is able to access your 1Password items without both your account password and Secret Key.
Let me know if you have any questions. 🙂
