I cannot move 1Password (8) to the trash after quitting.

I used the "complete" quit (alt/cmd+quit) and tried to drag the app to the trash, and it keeps saying it can't because the app is still open. So frustrating.

  • Hello ebymac! 👋

Thank you for reaching out. Is there a reason why you're trying to move 1Password to the Trash? Are you running into an issue that you hope reinstalling the app will fix? Or are you looking to leave 1Password?

To uninstall 1Password 8 for Mac follow these steps in order:

    1. Quit all open web browsers.
    2. Open the main 1Password app from your Applications folder. Right-click on the 1Password menubar icon and then click Quit.
    3. Drag 1Password from the Applications folder to the Trash. Do not use an "app cleaner" or "uninstaller" tool to remove the app or additional files. If prompted, enter the password you use to sign in to your Mac.
    4. Restart your Mac.

If you've also installed 1Password in the browser then this guide will help you remove that as well if you wish: How to remove 1Password from your browser

Let me know if you run into any issues and I'll be happy to help further. 😊

Restart, then cmd/Alt quit, then drag to trash - leads to refusal to move to message that it can't be moved to trash, because it is still open. THIS IS INFURIATING! Help?
