Opening 1Password in Chrome is very slow
I don't know what's going on but this morning I was not able to open click the 1Password by clicking on the Chrome browser extension icon. I clicked and clicked and nothing happened. I verified that my Chrome was up to date. I killed Chrome and opened it again. I launched the 1Password application on my Mac and it came up fine. I also could not get 1P to suggest passwords in a login page. I had to copy and paste from the 1P application into the login form. I was about to reboot my MacBook but then it just started working. I've noticed a sluggishness recently, but this morning it seemed completely broken. I also noticed when it wasn't working in the login page form, there wasn't even a 1P icon in the entry field. Seems to be working again. I will be keeping an eye on things.
Any suggestions on what to try if this happens again?
1Password Version: 8.10.56
Extension Version: 8.10.55.2
OS Version: macOS 14.6.1
Browser: Chrome

I'm having the same issue. Has been happening for the past couple of weeks. It's infuriating when it won't respond after years of seamless integration. I have removed my chrome profile and just installed 1password and it stills messes up. Just moved to Edge because I got so fed up. Seems to be working ok in Edge.

Thank you for sending an email kutenai.
I apologize for any inconvenience caused. I suggest capturing a console log while reproducing the issue and then attaching that file to an email directed to support+forum@1password.com.

I solved this by switching from Chrome to Brave. Both are built on Chromium, so, feature wise, very similar. Both have a profiles capability. There are one or two fiddly differences, but nothing I seem to care about. And, 1Password works at full speed!!! Just like the old days ;-)

1Password has always been pretty peppy, popping up quickly when I click the icon in Chrome. Lately, it has been acting weird. Just tonight I was on the Mariot site trying to log in. You can see in the screenshot that the 1P icons were not showing up in the login forms. When I clicked the Chrome extension icon it said "1Password has access to this site" under the icon, and nothing happened. All of a sudden is popped up and thing were back to normal again. Since I had not restarted my Mac in quite a long while I decided to reboot it. It seems to be working like normal now. I will do what you suggested above if it happens again. Thanks for responding to my post.

It appears that the 1Password extension for Chrome is now working, at least on my end.
- Chrome has been updated to version 131.0.6778.140.
- The 1Password extension is now at version 8.10.56.28.
- The others remain the same.I’m not sure whether this improvement is due to changes from Google or 1Password.
There is still some noticeable latency (up to 2 seconds) after clicking the extension icon, but it’s acceptable for me.

You're very welcome. I'm glad to hear it's now working after a reboot. If the problem occurs in the future, please don't hesitate to reach out. 🙂

I'm glad you were able to find a workaround. 🙂
Thank you for the update. The extension should activate without delay. A recent Chrome update likely triggered this issue. However, I recommend writing to support+forum@1password.com so that we can investigate further.

I'm experiencing this issue as well. Is there enough diag info already from the other reporters or do you want more samples? I'm on macOS 15.2, Mini M4 Pro, 1P version 8.10.56.28, Chrome 131.0.6778.205

I'm sorry that you're running into the issue as well. If you don't mind, I'd appreciate it if you could create the diagnostics reports from the 1Password extension and the desktop and send them to
support+forum@1password.com
. This will help our developers to collect more info about the issue.Thank you!
