PASSKEY - not working for GMAIL on Smartphone but on Desktop

So today I decided I would start using Passkeys on different accounts. Since this is a new experience for me I decided I would to first try accounts that are NOT important to me.

LinkedIn and Twitter worked fine. I then went on to try a backup GMAIL address (not my main!) and this one I ran in trouble with.

1. I am using the newest versions of 1Password on my M1 iMac and also on my Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus Smartphone

2. I went to mail.google.com and logged in my gmail account which had 2-factor-authentication enabled. I then started the passkeys onboarding. A passkey was succesfully saved via the browser extension in Microsoft Edge.

3. When I check the GMAIL Account in 1P on my mobile and on the Desktop they both show the passkeys symbol. I also made sure that the Domains/Websites are https://google.com and also mail.google.com

4. I then went ahead and fired up Samsung Email on my Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus Smartphone to add this GMAIL Account. I entered my mail address and the app told me that I need to verify that GMAIL account.

5. It took me to the Google Page and entered my mail address again - this time it scanned for a passkey and said that it did NOT find a matching passkey. It offered that I could scan a QR-Code on another tablet (which I do not have).

I can login on the Desktop without issues using passkey on this Backup Account!

So the issue is - I cannot add this GMAIL Account to the Samsung Mail Client because it will not find the saved/stored passkey in 1Password.

I then decided to simply add this Google Account to the Smartphone itself - same problem - I get up to the step where it scans for the passkeys and then fails to find a matching one.

I am just glad I did NOT use this for my main Google Account - because that would be an absolute horror and until I can get it to work with my backup Google Account I will obviously NOT switch to passkey.
