Apple seems to indicate that "spaces" and "desktops" are one in the same. 🤔 On my screen they are called desktops, e.g. "Desktop 1" and "Desktop 2."
Are you using any 3rd party utilities for window/desktop management that may be influencing where windows open, or is this strictly using the built-in macOS Mission Control features? I want to make sure we're talking about the same thing before we get too much further here. 😄
