Touch ID no longer available in all browsers on MacBook

As of today all of the Browsers with 1Password Extensions, except Safari have stopped offering touch id to login and instead require my master password.

Touch Id on the main app works fine. This has been working. Very very frustrating. I have tried the usual uninstalling and re-installing the extensions. This applies to: Firefox; Chrome; Edge

However Safari still works. I can see the padlock icon on the 1Password icon in the toolbar locking and unlocking as I lock and unlock the main 1Password App. When Locked if I click on it it offers me Tocuh Id. I do not see the same behavious with the other browsers.

Our developers have just released an update to the beta version of the 1Password desktop app to improve the reliability of the connection between the app and browser extension:

We’ve improved the reliability of the connection between the app and browser extension.

Please update the desktop app. If you still run into the same issue with 1Password 8.10.70-24 (beta) then let me know and I can help further.

  • Same here, guys!

It started happening today on both of my PCs.

    I'm on Windows 11, Chrome 135. 1Password beta app (build 81070023).

I tried both the release and the beta builds of the extension, and they both have the same problem.

  • Hello panning! 👋

I'm sorry that Touch ID isn't working in the browser. Are you using the production version of 1Password or the beta version? Based on your description, it sounds like the communication between the desktop app and the Safari extension isn't working. Try this:

    1. Open and unlock the 1Password for Mac desktop app.
    2. Click on 1Password next to the  in the menu bar.
    3. Click Settings.
    4. Click Browser.
    5. Make sure that "Connect with 1Password in the browser" is on.

    Then in the browser:

    1. Open your browser.
    2. Right-click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and click Settings.
    3. Make sure that "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app" is on.

If that still doesn't work then do you see a green dot in the browser settings page? Or a different coloured dot and an error message?
