Two banking logins and 2FA

I posted about this a few weeks ago (around January 23 or 24, 2025) , but can't find it in the new community. So I'll try again. My partner and I each have separate logins to our bank. The logins are located in a shared 1Password vault, and both use 2FA one-time passwords. When logging in using the bank app on my iPhone, when it comes time to fill in the one-time password, 1Password offers only my partner's code, with no way to access one without opening 1Password and copying and pasting it in. Obviously this is no good. And this is likely a fairly common situation for people with 1Password family accounts, so AgileBits must have thought this through at some point.

When I originally posted this, Dave_1P suggested putting my login in a separate vault. I tried this, but 1Password still offers me only my partner's code. There has got to be a solution for this sort of thing. What do I need to do so that we can both authenticate seamlessly with our banking app, with no copying and pasting, etc.?

  • Have you tried setting up separate tags or custom fields in 1Password? I ran into a similar issue with Comenity and had to manually select the right 2FA code each time. There’s got to be a better fix!

Yes. We also tried using Favorites, but in a Family account, Favorites are joint, not user-specific. That's a a major flaw; without personal Favorites, Favorites are rendered useless.
