What is the difference?

Under Categories, what is the difference between a "Login" and a "Password"? 1Password Version: 7.8.7 Extension Version: Not Provided OS Version: macOS 11.6

Hi lerbi:

Thanks for asking about this. A Login is an item that you fill on a website with a username, password and website all being part of the item. A Password is exactly that, just a password. You might use this for a physical alarm code for your house, or a locker combination. Items that are Passwords cannot be filled into a website or app, so generally if you're storing an account in 1Password, you would save it under Logins.
