10 months agoHi bh444, apologies for the delay in our response here!
Recently his windows 1password keeps prompting him about a windows pin. Probably a suggestion to set up 1password to use Windows Hello with a strong pin.
There are two possibilities for this - the first is that he's seeing the desktop app's initial set up prompt, which appears the first time you add an account to the app, and explains a few features such as Windows Hello unlock. This window has a slider you can click on to either enable or disable Hello unlock, and a Continue
button. The prompt can be completed by setting the slider the way you'd like, and then clicking continue until you reach the end. Once completed, this prompt shouldn't appear again until the app is reset or the account is fully signed out and then re-added from fresh.
The second possibility is that he's seeing a Windows Hello prompt to unlock the app, which would indicate that Windows Hello unlock is currently enabled in the desktop app under ⋮> Settings > Security. In this case, disabling the option should stop it from appearing in future.
"Add your first items, Passwords in a notebook? In the cloud? You can add them easily" with a + sign to go import them. Yet there is no possible way for this hint to go away.
This hint appears when you have under a certain amount of items stored in a particular vault, so will go away on its own as more items are added. I did some testing and for me I see Add your first items
with less than 3 items, Have more to add?
with under 7 items, and no hint with 7 or more items.
Please allow me to turn off all hints and suggestion dialogs.
I can definitely understand how this would be useful, and thank you for your feedback here. I've filed a feature request with our Product team including all of the details you've provided on your use case. While I can't make any promises as to if or when you might see this change made to 1Password, you can keep an eye on our release notes to stay up to date with future changes: 1Password Releases
I hope this helps, but if you have any further questions or concerns, let us know!
