21 TopicsNew Forum feedback
At the moment I prefer the old forum. It was much more logically structured and easier to find stuff on and just browse topics. Maybe I just need to learn it more, but if something needs learning, then it's not intuitive. I would like the option to replace the infinite scroll pages (which you still need to click a button to show more), with standard pagination. Pagination shows up in your browser history, which makes it possible to jump to a specific page of posts you've previously visited. If you lose your place in these infinite scroll pages, you have to click Show More and scroll to the bottom and repeat, over and over again. Why? It's much more tedious than just jumping to a page in your browser history with one click. On the main Discussions index page there's no introduction to each of the 4 main sections to tell you what is in them. Lounge? What's that for? What type of posts should go in there? Same with Device Trust - what is it? Password Manager should be obvious, but it could mention that all flavours of 1Password are discussed in there (mobile, desktop, browser extension, Mac, Windows, Linux etc.). I would guess a lot of people have no idea what Passage is, and from this page they still wouldn't. Under these 4 main topic areas there needs to be direct links to sub-sections, so for example, you can go directly to the iOS posts in the Password Manager section, rather than having to click Password Manager and then the IOS tag in the Categories box in the side panel. I've no idea what Device Trust is! Even the Welcome to the Device Trust forum post doesn't say what it is or what you should ask in there. There needs to be more sub-categories in the Betas section. All betas, for all operating systems, for mobile, desktop and browser are lumped together with no way to filter. How do I find posts about only the Mac Chrome Beta browser extension? I can't. Why do the URLs not match up with the Breadcrumbs at the top of the page? For example, If you go into the Discussions > Lounge section, the URL is: www.1password.community/category/discuss/discussions/lounge - what are the extra red bits for? Also, the URLs for Resources and Champions are /connect/ and /advocacy/ - more inconsistency. Why is the Password Manager section not called 1Password, as that is the name of the product across all platforms that people will recognise? Inconsistently, it is called 1Password in the URL for this section! www.1password.community/category/discuss/discussions/1password When you click into an individual post or tag, the sidebar disappears so you can't navigate directly to another tag without having to retrace your steps. Why does the Discussions item in the menu bar have a drop-down with its 4 main sub-sections listed, but the Groups item doesn't? And why are 1Password Administrators and 1Password SDKs designated as groups and not discussions? They appear identical in functionality and UI once you click through. That's most of the things I've noticed so far. Overall I think it's been launched too early. There's too many inconsistencies and illogical UX decisions. Because you've launched it in this state, search engines will be indexing the current content under it's current broken and inconsistent URL structure making it difficult to fix without lots of broken links (or lots of redirects).296Views12likes10CommentsWhere is 2FA? Where is passkey?
The minimum expectation for account security on any random web forum is a TOTP based second factor, but this is no random web forum. Just about every instance of the popular forum platform Discourse and many others offer modern account security and work well with 1Password. It's no fun having your customers second-guess you choices of technology partners, but while something like the lack of dark mode is an example of a disappointing failure, this is almost unbelievable.Solved187Views8likes2CommentsCommunity password 62 character maximum limit
Seems kinda funny to me that the password manager I use ubiquitously to create 100 character password only allows me to create a 62 character password for the community forum (and doesn't signal that in it's password creation hint popover). Clearly this is an active choice by someone, so I'd be interested in hearing from 1Password themselves why that choice felt like a good idea. I spend a lot of time battling sites that: don't publish their password restrictions at all; allow you to create a password, but the login box then doesn't permit that number of characters; do publish password restrictions, but the restrictions don't match reality only allow super short passwords It would be nice not to add 1Password themselves to that list of 'troublesome' websites :-) On the upside, this WYSIWYG editor is delightful.Solved131Views6likes3CommentsMany problems with new forum
Didn't bring over profile settings, had to receate them MacOS section has only 6 posts; where are all the earlier posts? Where are the legacy fora for 1Pwd7 and earlier for MacOS, iOS, Windows, etc.? I understand that AgileBits refuses to answer questions, but there is a LOT of useful information for those of us who can't use 1Pwd8 plus community members can help where staff won't.178Views3likes4CommentsIs MrC Converter Suite still available?
Hi, I see some references to this suite to assist with migrating to 1Password when searching for guidance on migrating from Keeper. Unfortunately, all the links I find are from the old support community, so just redirect to the front page now. Trying to search for it within the new community hasn't had much success either - it just brings up hundreds of posts from threads about old issues with the converter, but no link to the converter itself. Is it still available on here, and does someone have a link to it that works in the new community discussions? Is it still valuable to use this for importing from Keeper, or would just importing a CSV likely work as well? (the instructions suggest a manual confirmation of the type of every record will be needed, which sounds time consuming) I will be aiming to migrate using a Linux laptop, if that makes a difference (as it seems there is no way to migrate using an iPad) Thanks MichaelSolved236Views1like16CommentsWhere are the categories?
The previous 1password.community seemed to be nicely organized into categories for 1Password's production products, and then another section for beta versions of those products. This version seems to have just a seemingly random/unorganized flow of discussion topics. (I commented on this after I participated in the beta of 1P.community but I didn't get a response.) Similarly, my greatest use of the forums was to report and discuss bugs and problems, and look for solutions etc. There were fields at the bottom to include software versions, but those are gone. Is it no longer the intent to use these forums for this purpose?38Views1like1Comment
