No Touch ID on Firefox

Hello,

I use Firefox 64.0.2, and 1Password 7 with Firefox extension on macOS Mojave.

In Safari I can use the browser extension's Touch ID, but I recently switched to Firefox where this is not possible - I can only unlock by using the master password. As I use a long master password, this is not ideal.

Should Touch ID be working or is it not available on Firefox?

Thanks,
Koen

@koenb - Touch ID should certainly be working with Firefox; it does on my setup. However, you seem to have downloaded 1Password X, and not our standard ("Requires Desktop App") extension.

Please go to Firefox's Add-Ons and DISable 1Password X, then visit our downloads page and download the Desktop App Required version. Install it, then see if that helps. :)

Thanks.... I've been working through this same issue since I use both Safari and Firefox. Would have dropped Firefox for good if I couldn't use Touch ID.

I had the same problem with no Touch ID in Firefox. Removing the 1Password X and installed the FireFox 1Password browser extension from your 1Password website did the trick. Thanks.

    Hi @dorringtonsteve,

Glad Lars was able to help. We are looking to have 1Password X integrate with 1Password for Mac when its available and once that is all polished and working properly it will mean you can use Touch ID with 1Password X. Until that time though at least the companion extension is available

    Hi littlebobbytables,

Thanks for the comment. What is the additional value of 1Password X over the companion extension that I downloaded from the 1Password website? Your comment implies that it might have additional functionality. Do you have a link where I can study this topic?

@dorringtonsteve: 1Password X does not need the 1Password desktop app to work, so you can also use it on Linux or on work computers where you are not allowed to install additional apps. It also recognizes login fields automatically, without needing to click on the extension button or using the keyboard shortcut.

This is a tour of the main features of 1Password X. I hope this helps!
