Credit Card Type Updates
For all platforms (Mac, iOS, others I assume), is it possible to update the values for the credit card types for the sake of consistency?
i.e. Mastercard instead of MasterCard; and Visa instead of VISA
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mastercard
Mastercard Incorporated (stylized as MasterCard from 1979 to 2016 and mastercard since 2016)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_Inc.
Visa Inc. (also known as Visa, stylized as VISA)
Also, can we have a Visa Debit option added for Visa Debit cards?
Thanks, Michael

Interesting. I wasn't aware that "mastercard" (I'm going to have to get used to that!) changed their branding in the recent past. But I'm not sure I follow you on the "Visa" thing, since it sounds like their intention is for it to be presented as "VISA". Anyway, I'll bring it up with the team. Thanks for bringing it to our attention! :)

@brenty - please update me if any changes occur here. The converter suite has intimate knowledge of the currently supported names:
elsif ($type eq $k_cctype) { my %cctypes = ( mc => qr/(?:master(?:card)?)|\Amc\z/i, visa => qr/visa/i, amex => qr/american express|amex/i, diners => qr/diners club|\Adc\z/i, carteblanche => qr/carte blanche|\Acb\z/i, discover => qr/discover/i, jcb => qr/jcb/i, maestro => qr/(?:(?:mastercard\s*)?maestro)|\Amm\z/i, visaelectron => qr/(?:(?:visa\s*)?electron)|\Ave\z/i, laser => qr/laser/i, unionpay => qr/union\s*pay|\Aup\z/i, );

@brenty Thanks for your response.
Mastercard is the company and official card name, whereas ‘mastercard’ is the new stylized version of the card name, replacing MasterCard in 2016.
Visa is the company and offical card name, whereas ‘VISA’ has always been the stylized version of the card name, i.e. what we see printed on the card logo. My argument is that we should be using the official card name and not something that is all capitals. If it’s all capitals, one has to ask is this an acronym? No, it’s a word, not an acronym and it should not be fully capitalised. Continuing to use ‘VISA’ is not consistent with the other values, e.g. American Express, which is stylized as Amex or AMERICAN EXPRESS in logos.
Also, is it possible to add a ‘Visa Debit’ and ‘Debit Mastercard’ values as options?

The Debit Mastercard is a debit card. It uses the same systems as the standard Mastercard.
FYI, Mastercard announced a week ago that they are dropping the name ‘Mastercard’ or ‘mastercard’ from their logo.
This furthers my point about the name
of the card and ignoring any stylization of the card name.0 -

@mikerobbo34: Excellent points. Thank you! I've filed an issue for this, and we'll see if/when it makes sense to make changes to this across all 7(?) apps. :)
@MrC: I've also left a note to keep you in the loop in case changes need to be made in the converters. Thanks for the poke! :chuffed:

Finally,
Also, is it possible to have ‘Visa Debit’ and ‘Debit Mastercard’ values added (as mentioned in the original post re: Visa Debit)?
While it's come up from time to time, that's problematic for filling logic and user confusion, since a lot of cards you would not consider "Visa Debit", etc. actually say that on them. But we'll keep it in mind in case it becomes feasible in the future. Cheers! :)

@brenty is it possible if/when you update this to include a type of "Store Card" or "Merchant Card" to reflect a card(s) that can only be used at a specific store or merchant?

It's certainly something we can consider. :)

@brenty I see that you guys have updated the Mastercard name since I last posted.
Here are some social media screen shots for Visa that show the company name is 'Visa' and not 'VISA'

It seems they use either/both. Thanks for sharing. :+1:
