1Password 8, Beta 8.2.2-19
Hello, friends!
This week, we have a new feature-packed release, including a couple of exciting new features. You can see the full list for Mac, Windows, and Linux on our release notes blog, but read on for showcases and screenshots.
Screen Reader support in Quick Access, dropdown menus, and more!
Continuing with our theme of bringing accessibility up to standard, we've continued on with building proper support for screen readers. So this week, we've improved screen reader support to these sections of the app:
- Quick Access
- All dropdown menus in 1Password now announce the currently selection option
- The dialog for creating a new item will announce with account and vault the new item will go to
And, of course, we're going after progressively more parts of the application, plus giving more focus to ensure that new features have screen reader support early in our development cycle.
Shortcut Editing
Yep, you heard right! You have wanted to be able to change some of our desktop shortcuts, and this week we debut the new interface that allows you to do just that!
You can get to this in Settings > General
and customize these to fit into your workflow.
A note for Linux + Wayland users: this feature will not work on your system, even if you are running 1Password in XWayland mode. The Wayland developers made the deliberate choice to not allow applications to set global shortcuts. But never fear, you can configure the shortcuts in your desktop environment of choice, and I've written documentation for that!
Customizable Languages
For some users, the locale setting on your computer may not match the language setting you want to use for 1Password. Or, perhaps your native locale is not one of the languages that 1Password supports. Or, like me, you're learning a language but don't want to change your whole system. Today, in Settings > Advanced
, you're now able to manually set the language to any language that 1Password supports, overriding instructions from your system.
Filtered Search
For our last big feature, we've added the ability to filter your search!
The =tag:Starter Kit
syntax, followed by your search term, means that the search will only be conducted upon items within the Starter Kit
tag.
But... no need to remember the syntax! Instead, just select the account, vault, or tag that you want to search, and press Ctrl/Cmd + F
. We will fill in the field for you.
See you next week!
The updated beta should be available in your package managers, or already installed through our auto-update mechanisms. We hope you like it! See you again next week!
