Beta is missing filtered "All Vaults" option

The old default "All Vaults" option that allowed choosing to exclude certain vaults was incredibly useful. It allowed for having one or two vaults of reference or historical credentials that are still valid and may still want organised in their own vaults, but don't want to see on a regular basis. Out of the 2,000 or so items total across my 1Password accounts, maybe 500 or so would be in vaults that I'd just exclude from the "All Vaults" view. Any chance we can get that ability back?

    @Endareth ,

Collections has replaced the All Vaults configuration. See the link to the feature set in the first post in this forum. Search for Collections..

Hmm, okay, I can adapt to that. Would be awesome to be able to re-bind shortcut keys for accounts/collections/vaults though (and have them work in the browser plugin again).

If only the collection editing interface weren’t so bad.

And Collections doesn't seem to even exist for the browser plugin, making it completely pointless…
I'm going to have to switch back to v7 for now on my work machines. The new browser plugin is more or less unusable now—for my commonly used websites I now have to pick and choose between potentially dozens of different credentials to try and find what I'm after: used to just be Cmd-\, Cmd-2 (or whichever vault I needed), then Return to select. Now I'm finding I have to launch the full 1Password app, find what I need, and copy/paste credentials across. Horrible.

  • Hey there @Endareth, sorry for the trouble here! 1Password in your browser still contains support for excluding vaults from the All Vaults extension view. To customize those settings, right-click the 1Password extension icon, and click Settings. On the Settings page, scroll to the bottom, and you should see a list of your accounts and vaults - toggle off any vaults or accounts you wish to exclude from All Vaults, and 1Password in your browser will ignore those vaults when making suggestions. 😊

That’s completely impractical—I usually need to switch values/accounts almost every time I use a credentials from 1Password! Got to have hotkeys for that in the browser.

  • Ahh, my apologies for misunderstanding @Endareth, I was under the impression you were looking to exclde specific vaults from the All Vaults view, but I understand now you're looking to quickly switch back and forth between different vaults and views using keyboard shortcuts. I've got this feedback filed. 😊

I want to vote +1 for getting this feature implemented asap, so it works as good or better than 1Password 7.

I, too, have multiple vaults for organizing my passwords (personal vs. work vs. other stuff) and also have a vault with old passwords that I may want to look for reference, but don't want them popping up as options. I've also updated to the family account (again) and have a vault with a copy of my wife's credentials, and another vault with a copy of the shared credentials (for backup, in case she deletes or edits something by mistake), and therefore I also don't want the auto-fill to popup her credentials nor the duplicated ones on the shared vault.

I see the mobile beta app (iOS) has a collections feature that seems to allow to do this, but I can't figure out how to tell the app to use a collection as the main "all vaults", nor can do the same or edit the collections on the browser or the mac desktop app.

Should we wait some more betas for the feature to come back?

    Thanks

Currently, there is no way to set a collection as the primary view in 1P8 desktop. The first account will always be bound to ⌘1, and ⌘0 is bound to "reset zoom" instead of "preferred collection / all vaults" the way it was in 1P7. I have been raising this for months in various threads and seem to have just gotten the point across that ⌘0’s default assignment is garbage (there are still people who disagree, but the current assignment of ⌘0 is a regression for anyone who used those shortcuts in 1P7 which is indisputable). I have also asked for ways to reorder the accounts / collections so that adding another collection or account does not (by default) make the quick switch hotkeys dance around.

You can edit the collections in the 1P8 desktop beta, but the editing interface is awful because it’s the Electron pseudo-modal instead of a floating window. You cannot, however, reorder them. They are always alphabetically ordered. Also raised as an issue for months.

Thank you. So I've created a collection on the mobile app and now I can switch between all vaults with ⌘1,and my partial vault collection with ⌘2 :D
On the browser plugin the interface is currently completely different, but now I see I can use the configure to select which vaults are available.
It's cumbersome but it works for now.

  • Hi @davipt:

Great question! When you say the Mac desktop app, do you mean 1Password 7, or 1Password 8? Collections are only supported in 1Password 8 at the moment. 1Password in the browser isn't currently aware of collections, and instead uses All Vaults. In short, collections are similar to All Vaults, but you can have multiple of them.

It sounds like in your case, configuring a collection containing your vaults you'd use daily, and calling it something like Daily Driver would be your best bet. You can then configure All Vaults in 1Password in the browser to contain those same vaults.

    1Password 8.

On my iPhone, I have both apps, 1Password 7 as a regular app and 1Password 8 as a beta app via TestFlight, so I can compare both.

But on my mac 1Password 8 beta replaced 1Password 7. I can still compare 1Password 8 on my laptop with 1Password 7 on another Mac (mini), but not on the same machine at the moment.

However, I can't find a way to edit collections on the desktop app. I'm just happy that the "hidden feature" ⌘2 does what I need. I'll try to create a third collection and see if ⌘3 does select that one.

It would be nice to be able to set different icons for collections, too.

And, while I’m at it, a lot of these things really should be added to the macOS menu bar rather than being hidden behind custom chrome.

    👍

  • Hi folks! Just popping in to say that we have filed your feedback about these topics, and I have just now cast a vote on behalf of @austin for custom collections icons. Thank you for the discussion, folks. 😃

Yep, agree with most of the above, being able to customise order of Collections (and hotkeys for them) would make life way simpler, plus replicating that functionality within the browser plugin.
